A two-month-old girl was found dead inside a day-care center operated out of an apartment in Queens on Saturday morning.
The NYPD is investigating whether an illegal daycare was being operated out of the apartment. The Department of Buildings closed two floors of the building located at 92-45 55th Avenue in the Elmhurst section and owned by Wai Yee Cheng -- hours after police found the body of Jennifer Zheng around 9:00 a.m.
Police found the unconscious baby and rushed her to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where she was pronounced dead.
Authorities say no criminality was initially suspected and the city medical examiner has yet to determine the cause of death.
The baby's relatives had not yet been identified and were not immediately known. Police were unsure whether the baby was related to the occupants of the apartment.
