Dalton State College professor honored

Posted: Updated:
DALTON, Ga. -

A Dalton State College psychology professor has been named a U.S. Professor of the Year by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and the Council of Advancement and Support of Education.

Christy Price's varied teaching techniques are one of the reasons she earned the special honor, which was announced this week. Students in Price's classes often listen to a short lecture, use social media, work on a case study, role play and discuss an issue in small groups -- all during one class.

Price says it's important to teach young students raised in a multimedia age with more than just lectures.

The U.S. Professor of the Year awards were established in 1981, and Price beat out about 300 nominees to earn the honor.
