Gun shop owner to Obama voters: I don't want your business

PINETOP, Ariz. -
A gun shop owner in the Arizona town of Pinetop is getting a lot of attention for his latest advertisement.
He's not touting a sale on guns -- instead he's telling customers that if they voted for President Obama, he doesn't want their business.
"It started out to be nothing more than a political statement. We never thought it would get to this magnitude," says Cope Reynolds.
Cope Reynolds, the owner of Southwest Shooting Authority in Pinetop, is getting a lot of attention for a sign he put in his window. It reads: "If you voted for Barack Obama your business is not welcome. You have proven you are not responsible enough to own a firearm."
How would he even know or be able to verify if someone voted for president Obama?
Reynolds: "Like I said, it's a political statement. We're not going to check voter IDs or registration cards, there's no way we could tell."
"There are restaurants and stores and businesses that put up signs that say no guns there, denying me my right because they don't like guns. I'm denying their right to come in here because I don't like Obama," he says. "It's not about gun control as much as it is freedom."
But he admits there has been plenty of negative attention.
"We've gotten a lot of negative feedback… I can't even repeat [what people have said]."
Reynolds says in the past he'd posted similar signs about President Clinton. He says business has exploded since he posted this one, and he's not worried about offending customers -- because he doesn't believe many President Obama supporters shop at his store anyway.
