FEMA federal coordinating officer Mike Byrne updated GDNY on Sandy relief efforts on Thursday.
"We've discovered that the best thing we can do is get people back in their homes as their primary shelter. We explored other options but they're just not a good fit for this disaster," Byrne told GDNY.
"It's not the place for trailers and temporary housing units. We're going to use our contractors and local contractors to get in there, do an assessment and restore power to the homes."

"We're not abandoning anyone. We'll take care of them until they back into their homes."
