Fred Scholfield of Queens lost power during last Wednesday's nor'easter, only days after getting it restored following Hurricane Sandy.
He has been sleeping in a sleeping bag to stay warm and using lanterns to get around his Queens Village home.
But what is puzzling is that Scholfield's home was the only one in his area in the dark. The block did not suffer much damage from Hurricane Sandy or the nor'easter. The outage map on Con Edison's website shows that the whole neighborhood has power.
The problem is Scholfield doesn't. He calls it a nightmare and has been frustrated trying to get answers from Con Ed.
Scholfield said he was told to call Con Ed Energy Services to inspect his home. But when he calls, he hears a message saying "Energy Services is not available."
Scholfield contacted Fox 5 for help.
Con Ed said some lights off the transformer are flickering and that Scholfield was not the only one in his neighborhood with power problems. But after we called, Con Ed fixed the problem and power has been restored to Scholfield's home, just in time for his Thanksgiving celebration next week for which he is expecting 25 guests.
