The saga of "Ronnie the Rooster" has come to an end.
The family that kept the bird as a pet in Troupe County must now find another place for it after an agreement was worked out in court on Wednesday.
Joel Powell and his sons rescued the rooster a couple of months ago and gave it a home, but neighbors complained about the bird's early morning crowing.
According to FOX 5's Darryl Carver, a judge asked Powell and a neighbor to resolve the issue without going to trial. Powell later agreed to remove the bird in exchange for charges dropped. The judge gave Powell a week to get rid of the bird.
"I would have hoped I could have went back home and still kept the rooster for my two little boys, but it didn't work out that way. Now I have to get rid of it, I really don't like that at all," Powell said.
Hogansville allows residents to keep chickens and roosters, but code enforcement officers ticketed Powell for a noise violation. Powell said he was told he faced potential fines or jail time.
The family plans to send Ronnie to live with the children's grandfather so they can still visit their friend.
