Fla. Electrician Brutally Beaten While Restoring Power In NY

Posted: Updated:

Frustrated power customers in New York have resorted to taking out their anger on the people helping them.

A utility worker from Florida was brutally attacked outside a long island restaurant by a man apparently upset over the slow pace of power restoration.

John Applewhite had just finished a 16-hour shift when a man in a black BMW drove up and asked about the power situation.

The man then jumped out of his car and decked him.

Applewhite's father thought his son had been electrocuted but chalks up this incident to frustration.

Applewhite will need surgery to repair his broken jaw.
