Study Links Flu With Risk Of Autism In Mothers During Pregnancy

A new study published in the journal "Pediatrics" suggests mothers-to-be who have the flu or even a prolonged fever may have a slightly higher risk of having a child with autism.
The study's authors say more research still needs to be done on this subject.
Dr. Mehmet Oz of "The Doctor Oz Show" responded to the study on the FOX 29 News at 5 Monday.
Dr. Oz says 100,000 women were surveyed periodically during their pregnancies 10-years ago.
The children of women who reported having flu-like symptoms or actually had the flu were tracked over the next decade.
Dr. Oz says researchers saw that there was a higher incident of early onset autism among the women who reported having the flu or flu-like symptoms.
