EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -

With just two weeks until Thanksgiving, balloon handlers held a test run of some of the newest balloons for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Balloon handlers held a test flight this weekend in East Rutherford, New Jersey for the "Hello Kitty," "Papa Smurf" and "Elf on the Shelf" balloons, which are all set to debut in this year's parade.

Organizers say each balloon handler goes through weeks of training to get an understanding for the aerodynamics of a balloon.

This year's parade includes a different route, with a trip down Sixth Avenue before heading to Macy's in Herald Square.
