60 new charges for roadway shooting suspect, facing life

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (myFOXDetroit.com) -

The man accused of the shooting spree known for targeting drivers along the I-96 corridor was arraigned on 60 new charges.

Raulie Casteel, 43, now faces assault with intent to murder, felony firearms, felonious assault, discharging a weapon from a vehicle, and felonious possession of a firearm.

District Judge Dennis Powers also denied bond for the attempted murder charges, which also carries the possibility of life in prison.

Police found a spent shell casing in the windshield wiper track of his vehicle, a 2009 Chevy Malibu. The weapon has also been matched with some of the shootings.

Casteel was arrested at his home in Wixom on Monday, November 5th. Just a short couple days later he was arraigned on charges for the shooting incident on October 18th.

The October 18th charges are:

Count 1: Assault with a dangerous weapon (felonious assault)
Count 2: Weapons - felony firearm
Count 3: Weapons - dangerous weapon
Count 4: Weapons - felony firearm
Count 5: Weapons - firearm- discharge from vehicle
Count 6: Weapons - felony firearm

 

No motive has been disclosed yet for these two dozen shootings that injured one person.
