Sir Roger Moore talks Bond on Bond

MYFOXNY.COM -

The latest James Bond movie did huge numbers at the box office this weekend.  On Monday,  Sir Roger Moore, who spent many years playing 007, talked about the success of the series.

He's written a new book called "Bond on Bond:  Reflections on 50 Years of James Bond".

He talked about the book and his experiences playing the most famous spy.

Moore's Bond films include Live and Let Die (1973), The Man with the Golden Gun (1974), The Spy Who Loved Me (1977), Moonraker (1979), For Your Eyes Only (1981), Octopussy (1983) and A View to a Kill (1985).

The latest Bond film, "Skyfall", hauled in a franchise-record $87.8 million in its first weekend at U.S. theaters.

That lifts the worldwide total for "Skyfall" to $518.6 million.

The third installment starring Daniel Craig as British super-spy Bond, "Skyfall" outdid the $67.5 million U.S. debut of 2008's "Quantum of Solace," the franchise's previous best opening. "Skyfall" more than doubled the $40.8 million debut of Craig's first Bond film, 2006's "Casino Royale."

The Craig era has reinvigorated one of Hollywood's most-enduring franchises, whose first big-screen Bond adventure, "Dr. No," debuted 50 years ago.

"It's quite a testament to Bond, considering it's the 50th anniversary. What a great anniversary present," said Rory Bruer, head of distribution at Sony, which produces the Bond films along with MGM.

The future is here when it comes to vehicles. The auto industry has packed nearly 1,000 automobiles into the Jacob Javits Center on Manhattan's West Side for the 2014 NY Auto Show.   Among the 'must-sees' is a hydrogen-powered vehicle and a prototype with cameras that allow you to see the ground underneath as you drive over it.

“I was supposed to be dead before last Easter," said Valerie Harper about her diagnosis of cancer in the lining around her brain.  Harper's indomitable spirit and the support from fans of her character 'Rhoda' in the 1970s hit series 'The Mary Tyler Moore Show' has kept her going. "It’s a tasty headline," said Harper about the magazine where the inaccurate report was made.
