The way society gets its news evolves daily. For those who have grown tired of the traditional newsroom experience or are eager to step into a new industry, Brafton may offer a compelling opportunity. In recent years, the company has reinforced its position as a leading online news agency, providing custom news and other content to a wide range of clients.
To support our continued growth, we're looking for news junkies who have experience writing on any number of topics. Part of the writing role at Brafton consists of looking at content through a journalistic eye and we need people who can understand current events, as well as the context surrounding the story.
A writer at Brafton constantly scours news wires, websites and social media platforms in search of their next story for publication on our clients' websites to build up their online presence and increase traffic.
As a company, we are proud of our ability to find and use first-party sources for our stories (press releases, reports, video of press conferences, etc), while bringing in other contextual information to our pieces.
The goal: To write stories that are unique, timely and readable.
Bottom line: Not only do we need writers, we need people who understand how a news story is constructed.
New employees will be part of a training pool which teaches the proper sourcing and writing techniques to help them get up-to-speed quickly and define clear benchmarks during the first three months of employment. What qualities should an ideal Brafton candidate possess?
• excellent writing and editing skills
• knowledge of AP style
• at least one year experience writing news copy
