ING Direct to become Capital One 360

Say goodbye to the bright orange lion and hello to the red swoosh.

ING Direct, which Capital One acquired earlier this year, unveiled a new name and logo to its customers.

The bank -- which made a name for itself with no-fee, high-interest online-only accounts, quirky advertising, and coffee shops promoting financial literacy -- will be rebranded Capital One 360 in February 2013.

The bank will dump its familiar orange theme (its accounts are called "Orange Savings" and "Electric Orange") in favor for Capitol One's signature red and blue.

"All the good stuff you've come to love from ING DIRECT is staying the same and we'll have the same commitment to saving you time and money," the company said in an email to customers.

The coffee shops and their baristas, who are all trained bankers, promote saving money through its financial products and give customers account access via ATMs and computer terminals. It is not clear if the cafes, with their orange-themed décor, will get a makeover and continue to operate.

Under a bailout deal with the European Commission, ING Group, a Dutch company, sold its U.S. business, ING Direct, to Capitol One in February 2012. Capitol One was given a license to continue using the ING name and logo for a year.
