HOWELL, Mich. (WJBK) -- Ruelie Wayne Casteel has been arraigned on six counts in connection with a shooting incident that happened on October 18 in Howell Township on westbound I-96, Livingston County Prosecutor David Morse announced Wednesday.

You can watch the news conference in its entirety in the player above.

Casteel is charged with one count each of assault with a dangerous weapon, carrying a weapon with an unlawful intent, intentionally discharging a weapon from a motor vehicle and three counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

If convicted on these charges, he could be sent to prison for seven years.

Judge Carol Sue Reader set a $2 million cash surety bond.  A preliminary exam conference is scheduled for November 14.

Morse said the charges come following a lengthy investigation that involved law enforcement officials on the local, state and federal levels.  He added that a number of other roadway shooting incidents in Michigan's Ingham, Livingston, Oakland and Shaiwassee counties remain under investigation.

David McCain, the special agent in charge of the ATF Michigan Field Division, said investigators have received over 2,900 tips.

Casteel's wife, father, stepmother and sister all declined comment to Fox 2's Ronnie Dahl.
