The Federal Emergency Management Agency is temporarily closing some information centers for Superstorm Sandy victims in the New York metropolitan area because of the nor'easter now making its way up the Atlantic coast.
FEMA said 10 "mobile disaster recovery centers" in and around New York City will close at 6 p.m. Tuesday and reopen when conditions permit. The agency says it's a safety precaution.
The mobile centers are buses with information on aid. Actual applications for aid are made by phone or online. That process will continue.
Also, three other FEMA recovery centers will remain open. They're in buildings in Brooklyn, Riverhead and Hauppauge.
The nor'easter is expected to affect the area Wednesday. It's expected to be weaker than Sandy, but officials are concerned about some possible further damage.
