Victor Hill has been reelected as sheriff of Clayton County. However, he may not be allowed to serve. Hill is facing dozens of criminal charges.
His challenger was write-in candidate Garland Watkins, and he received 21 percent of the vote.
Hill, the former Clayton County sheriff, beat the current sheriff, Kem Kimbrough, in the Democratic primary and was unopposed by a Republican. Hill faces 32 charges in a corruption case while he was sheriff between 2005 and 2008. His trial was to start later this month, but has been delayed.
Watkins, a 27-year veteran of the Clayton County Sheriff's Department, is currently the chief deputy.
While Hill appeared to get the majority of votes on Tuesday, an election officer said they will have to count every vote by hand. They will have to print out reports and look at each write-in ballot, which could take some time.
FOX 5 tried to speak with Hill on Tuesday, but he hasn't talked publicly or to the media for several months.
