OAK PARK, Mich. (WJBK) -- A man was shot to death Monday in a parking lot across from Northland Mall.  We're told it happened a little after 6:30 p.m. and the victim is a man in his forties.

An employee told us that he saw someone run inside and say that they heard a gunshot.  He explained they called 911 and police discovered the man in the parking lot not far from his vehicle.

Detectives were reviewing surveillance footage Monday night to see if cameras at Greenfield Plaza captured the incident.

Oak Park Police are still trying to answer a lot of questions.  They don't know whether this was an attempted robbery gone bad or whether this man was targeted for other reasons.

If you have any information, you are asked to call Oak Park police.

Eric Garner's relatives stopped in front of his open casket, some weeping and wailing. A preacher opened the service at Brooklyn's Bethel Baptist Church with a mix of solemn prayer and an organ-backed gospel medley.
