Navy SEAL from New Jersey dies in Afghanistan

A Navy SEAL from New Jersey died in Afghanistan last week, the Department of Defense announced.

Petty Officer 2nd Class Matthew G. Kantor, 22, of Gillette, died November 1, 2012, supporting stability operations in Zabul, the Pentagon said.

Kantor was assigned to a Naval Special Warfare unit based in Virginia Beach, Va.

The military has not released any further information.
