Cops: Teen pulls knife on gas station worker

MYFOXNY.COM -

A teenager who was upset after being told he couldn't buy gas at a Long Island BP station allegedly pulled a knife on the worker.

Suffolk County Police say it happened about 8:30 a.m. on Monday at the BP gas station at 728 Route 25A in East Setauket.

Police say Jared Giacolone, 17, of Woodfield Rd. in Stony Brook drove his Subaru to the station to fill up.

He apparently got into an altercation with an employee after being told the station was out of high-octane gas.

Giacolone then allegedly took out a folding knife and threatened the employee after being told to leave the station.

Police were called and Giacolone was arrested.  He is charged with menacing  and weapons charges.

He was to be arraigned at a later date.  There was no information about a possible lawyer for Giacolone.

Patience has been running thin across the tri-state area as long lines and shortages continue in the aftermath of superstorm Sandy.
