Artwork auction to benefit Accent Signage Systems shooting victim's family

MAPLE GROVE, Minn. (KMSP) -

The Maple Grove community is coming together to remember one of the workers killed in the shooting rampage at Accent Signage Systems, Inc., by holding a fundraiser benefit to help the family he left behind.

During the seven years Jacob Beneke spent working at Accent Signage, the artist was auctioning off the mixed media sculptures and abstract paintings he created as an active member of the Maple Grove Arts Center board.

The art community told FOX 9 News Beneke won multiple awards for his work, and now an auction of his remaining artwork seeks to raise more than $6,000 to help benefit his wife and 6-year-old son.

The event began at noon with a spaghetti lunch from Z's Smokin Bonz, and was followed by a silent auction, live music, face painting and henna art. It will run until 3 p.m.

Those who missed the celebration can still help the family; however. Donations can be made to the Memorial of Jacob Beneke Fund at the address below.
