BROWNSTOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJBK) -- A Brownstown Township mother was brutally killed in her own home.  Investigators have now identified a person of interest and say an arrest could come very soon.

"She was just a real quiet woman, kept her house up real nice," said neighbor Tim Reaid.

However, the house that was once known for its beautiful flowers is now surrounded by crime tape, a frightening reminder of what happened inside Tuesday night.

46-year-old Zita Kvasys was murdered.  Investigators believe it happened shortly after she got home from work around 6:00 p.m.  Her body wasn't discovered until Wednesday afternoon.

"The daughter called couple of times checking on the mom because she hadn't answered her phone, and I guess the daughter sent a friend over there and the friend found her," said neighbor Lori Rose.

Police say Kvasys was shot to death.  They have questioned both her ex-husband and her boyfriend.  Neighbors say she seemed to have a good relationship with both.

"Her ex-husband used to come around and cut her grass every once in a while," Reaid told us.

Meanwhile, the neighborhood hopes officers make an arrest very soon.

"My girlfriend, she's freaking out.  She wouldn't even take a shower last night until I (came) home," Reaid said.

"Scary because it happened right next door to us," said Rose.

Investigators planned to head back to the victim's home Thursday evening to gather more evidence.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is holding its monthly board meeting, two days after it heard from a panel on what it needs to do to improve its accountability and efficiency and restore public trust.
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey could rescind a $1-a-year lease for a park-and-ride lot near the Lincoln Tunnel. The agency's chief of real estate and development told a committee Wednesday that it should change a deal made in 2012. Published reports have alleged that former Port Authority chairman David Samson voted to approve the lease even though his law firm did business with New Jersey Transit, which operates the park-and-ride lot.
