Possible link between DPD officials, sex club being investigated

DETROIT -- In the wake of the widening sex scandal that has rocked the Detroit Police Department, brought down Chief Ralph Godbee and has led to misconduct investigations on his top deputies, Fox 2 has learned that city hall and the Internal Affairs Division have launched an investigation into a possible link between Detroit police officials and a sex club, which featured the sale of illegal alcohol and underage girls.
According to reports obtained by Fox 2 News, police officials from the Central District, the vice and homicide squads, knew that a sex club was operating at 300 East Milwaukee in Midtown as far back as October 2010. That's when the ex-husband of the alleged madam of the sex club was murdered in the back alley trying to get in through the back door. His murder remains unsolved and his ex-wife continues to be a suspect in his death.
Nevertheless, the club remained open and continued to operate until about January of this year.
Sources are telling us that the investigation is leading into the Detroit Police Department's Central District and whether or not commanders may have contracted out to provide protection and even limousine service.
The sex club on Milwaukee shut down after the property changed ownership earlier this year, and so now city officials are investigating the opening of the sex club a block away on East Baltimore, which operated right under the nose of commanders at Central District just three blocks away.
This club was raided in September by the sheriff's department. Deputies found upscale pleasure rooms, narcotics, showers and an underage, 16-year-old prostitute, and while surveilling the locale, undercover deputies found at least one Detroit police officer frequenting the joint.
So how low will this all go? No one seems to know because what do we have? A department without a permanent chief, another boiling sex scandal and the city suffered its 351 homicide Thursday morning.
