POINT PLEASANT BEACH, N.J. (AP) -- Residents are getting their first look at superstorm Sandy damage in the New Jersey shore town of Point Pleasant Beach.

Bill Goldberg's first reaction was unprintable.

He began shoveling several inches of mud from his garage and the new kitchen he installed six months ago. He says his task is figuring out if he has anything left.

About half the town's mile-long boardwalk was destroyed or seriously damaged. Beachfront bars and amusements seemed to have come through relatively intact.
