A New Jersey woman is dead after an early morning crash involving a Suffolk County police car.
It happened Tuesday at 1:30 a.m. on Route 112 and Route 347 in Port Jefferson Station.
Police say Amanpreet Dhaliwal was driving a 2002 Toyota Highlander northbound on Route 112 and officer Rene Garcia, who was driving a marked police vehicle, was traveling westbound on Route 347 when their vehicles collided at the intersection.
Vishwaja Muppa, 21, of Edison, N.J., who was in the backseat of the Highlander died at the scene.
Dhaliwal, 20, and three other passengers were transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment.
Officer Garcia, who was alone in his vehicle, was also transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was treated and released.
