The NYC Federations of Taxi Drivers announced that due to the MTA shutdown of subway and bus service, yellow medallion and livery cabs will provide service to New Yorkers.

"We accept the challenge and will be ready to perform our duties with honor and respect. A SEVEN point plan will be laid out for the Drivers and the riding public. We expect some DRIVERS to violate the policies and they will be warned not to. The NYS Federation of Taxi Drivers will make all the necessary provisions to address any medical emergencies; an emergency telephone number will be provided 24/7."

The agency says a 24 hotline will be provided to avoid price gauging.
