Residents along the Jersey Shore, where Hurricane Sandy is expected to make landfall, are preparing for the worse and hoping for the best.
With less than 48 hours before Sandy possibly makes landfall in Sea Bright, the boards are going up -- shielding windows from the potential of flying debris as residents filled sandbags to protect their homes from possible flooding.
"There's not much we can do about this," said one resident. "It hasn't been this bad since the 60's."
"I just want to make sure we're prepared but there nothing we can do -- I can't stop it," added another resident.
"We went through Hurricane Andrews. We have everything, batteries and water," said one homeowner.
At a local gas station the lines stretched down the block.
John McClusky filled up his truck and the generator he bought after Irene blew through here last year.
"I got a generator last year after the Hurricane (Irene). I'm better prepared for it," said McClusky.
Speaking from a firehouse in Monmouth County, Governor Christie said the state was better prepared, noting National Guard is in place and utility companies are beefing up staff.
Despite the preparations with strong winds and rain possibly lasting until Wednesday, residents across the state should expect to be without power for several days.
Residents should be ready to keep themselves safe -- or as Christie says...
