SHIP BOTTOM, N.J. (AP) - Some residents of the Jersey shore are packing up and leaving as Hurricane Sandy moves closer, but others are calling the storm's bluff.
On Long Beach Island, some residents of homes near the ocean were loading up hatchbacks and leaving Saturday morning. But some neighbors scoffed at the killer storm, predicting it would fizzle as most of the recent storms to approach the shore did.
Alice Stockton helped her husband pack the car in Ship Bottom. She says she hopes people won't have a false sense of security because Tropical Storm Irene proved less fearsome than advertised last year.
Russ Linke is taking no chances. He and his wife are leaving Ship Bottom after securing their patio furniture and packing bicycles into their pickup truck.

A couple was found shot dead inside a park in Montclair, N.J. Police say they were responding to calls about shots fired when they discovered the bodies of Shanae Q. Howard, 24, of Orange and Brandon Brown, 26, of Montclair. The couple were found near a bench in Canterbury Park at around 10 p.m. on Thursday. A weapon was recovered at the scene.
