Boy Gourmet: How to add candy to any dish

(WJBK) - What to do with that leftover Halloween candy? David Custer, from www.boygourmet.com, shows us how to add candy to a variety of everyday dishes.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Pops

2 bananas, peeled and cut in half
4 full-size peanut butter cup candies, or 8 minis
4 chocolate bars, chopped
4 wooden skewers or popsicle sticks
 
Insert wooden stick into bottom of the banana half.  Freeze the bananas and the peanut butter cups for a minimum of 2 hours.  Melt the chocolate in a double boiler on the stove, stirring often until smooth.  Chop up the frozen peanut butter cups into small peanut size chunks.  Coat the frozen bananas in the melted chocolate and place them on a piece of parchment paper.  Sprinkle peanut butter cup pieces on bananas.  Place back in the freezer for 5 minutes.  Eat and Enjoy!
 
You may use other toppings as well such as M&M's, Snickers Bars, Pretzels, etc.  Have fun with and even consider making a candy dipping bar for the bananas.
 
Caramel Apple Dumplings

1 packet Boy Gourmet Caramel Apple Dip Mix*
2 large Granny Smith Apples, peeled and cored
2 (10 oz.) cans refrigerated crescent roll dough
1 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 (12 fluid oz.) can or bottle Mountain DewTM or any citrus soda pop beverage
 
Preheat oven to 350°. Grease a 13x9-inch baking dish. Cut each apple into 8 wedges and set aside. Roll each apple wedge in crescent roll dough starting at the smallest end. Pinch to seal and place in the baking dish.
 
Melt butter in a small saucepan and stir in the Boy Gourmet Caramel Apple Dip Mix, sugar and cinnamon. Bring to boil while stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Pour over the apple dumplings. Pour Mountain DewTM or similar soda over the dumplings. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes until golden brown.
 
*If using melted caramel candies instead of Boy Gourmet Caramel Apple Dip Mix as seen on FOX2, omit sugar and butter from the recipe.

Candied Slow Cooker BBQ Chicken

4-6 boneless chicken breasts, quartered
18 oz. bottle of your favorite plain bbq sauce
12 oz. can of frozen apple juice
12 oz. red hot candies
2 tbs. apple cider vinegar
18 oz. jar of apple jelly
½ teaspoon liquid smoke
 
Place red hot candies into a plastic bag and crush them.  Bring apple juice and crushed red hot candies to a boil in a saucepan on the stove.  Let simmer.  Place quartered chicken breasts into a slow cooker.  Pour vinegar over top followed by BBQ sauce, liquid smoke, apple jelly and red hot apple juice mixture.  Place lid on slow cooker and cook on low for 3 to 4 hours or on high for 2 to 3 hours.  Stir occasionally while in slow cooker.
 
Candy Corn on the Cob

Take a tube of cookie dough and break off a piece and roll it out into small cylinder shape 1.5" in diameter by 5" in length.  Take your candy corn and insert in pointy side first into the cookie dough.  Do this repeatedly all around the cookie dough for the entire length until you have what looks like an ear of corn.

Candy Wrapper Picture Frame

Modge Podge a picture frame after removing the glass.  Apply leftover Halloween candy wrappers to the picture frame covering entire frame.  Lightly cover the candy wrappers with the Modge Podge until it is completely covered.  Let dry and put glass back in and add your favorite Halloween Photos.
