The wife of a television executive came home to their luxury Upper West Side apartment on Thursday and found two of their children stabbed to death and their nanny critically wounded, police said.

Police believe the nanny, Yoselyn Ortega, 50, stabbed two children, a 6-year-old girl and a 1-year-old boy, at a building called La Rochelle on West 75th Street, just of Columbus Avenue.

Accompanied by her 3-year-old daughter, Marina Krim came home to a darkened apartment  and found the fatally wounded children in the bathtub, the nanny with wounds to her neck, and a kitchen knife lying on the floor, police said.

Ortega apparently stabbed herself, police said.

Krim is the wife of Kevin Krim, an executive with CNBC.

The NYPD identified the children as Leo and Lucia Krim.

Neighbors told Fox 5 News that the mother's screams were so loud you could hear her a half block away.

Medics were seen rushing out of the building with the victims on gurneys. EMTs brought them to St. Luke's Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

Police arrested Ortega, who was listed in critical condition at Weill-Cornell Medical Center.

Detectives did not know why she allegedly would do something like this, how long she worked for the family, or if she had a mental condition.
