COPIAGUE, N.Y. (AP) - Police say a motorist struck and killed a pedestrian who crossed in front of her on a Long Island highway.
The victim, a woman in her late 40s or early 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene Tuesday night. She was not immediately identified.
Suffolk County police say the driver, 33-year-old Lisa Eskenazi, was eastbound on the Sunrise Highway in Copiague when the accident occurred. She was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
Her Honda Odyssey was impounded for a safety check.
