Violence linked to Ossining-Sleepy Hollow rivalry

MYFOXNY.COM -

Three students were viciously beaten after a football game between Ossining and Sleepy Hollow in Westchester on Friday night. Now cops and school officials are trying to make sure something like that happens again.

Three Sleepy Hollow freshmen were beaten so badly they had to be rushed to the emergency room.

Witnesses say one of the victim's eyes was so damaged that he lost vision.  He also suffered a broken nose.

The alleged attackers were reportedly sore losers of the football game.

The attack happened Friday night shortly after the homecoming football game.   Police say three Sleepy Hollow JV football players were walking through a shopping center parking lot to meet their parents for rides home, when all of a sudden a car full of Ossining teens pulled over and began pummeling them.

Sleepy Hollow students believe their classmates were attacked for only one reason: they were wearing their school jerseys.

"Shock and outrage," is Ossining Mayor Bill Hanauer's reaction to the incident.

He says there have been incidents in the past and doesn't want the two high schools to play against each other in sports ever again.

So far police haven't made any arrests yet.
