MYFOXNY.COM -

A group of thieves is reportedly targeting the vehicles of people at the arrival and departure areas of Newark-Liberty International Airport when they get out of their cars to greet passengers or help them with their luggage.

The thieves apparently have a taste for luxury vehicles.

The robbers struck twice in one day earlier this month, the NY Post reported on Monday.  There have been approximately a dozen recent robberies.

A man from Harrison, N.J. was picking up his wife at Terminal C on Oct. 10 when their 2011 Range Rover was stolen.  Earlier in that same day a man made off with a retired NYPD officer's SUV.

In both incidents, the drivers had left the keys in the ignition.  The robber simply jumped into the driver's seat of the vehicle and sped away.

Police are investigating whether the thieves are quickly driving the cars to the nearby container terminal to ship the cars overseas.
