Funeral for Nassau County officer killed on Monday

A funeral service will be held for Nassau County police officer Joseph Olivieri who was killed last week while responding to a traffic accident.    

Sunday, a wake for the 43-year-old officer was held at the Ronkonkoma Fire House. The veteran officer and father of two was struck and killed by a vehicle allegedly driven by 25-year-old James Ryan. 

Olivieri was responding to an accident on the Long Island Expressway early Thursday morning. 

Ryan was charged with vehicular manslaughter, DWI and other charges. 

The funeral for Officer Olivieri will take place at St. Joseph's Church in Ronkonkoma.
