Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter underwent surgery today to repair a left ankle fracture Saturday. 

The surgery was performed Dr. Robert Anderson in Charlotte, N.C. and the team said complete recovery for the 38-year-old captain is expected to take four-to-five months.  

Jeter was injured October 13 in the 12th inning of the AL Championship Series against Detroit while trying to field a grounder. 

The Tigers went on to sweep the Yankees.
