ATLANTA -

Fire investigators are trying to determine what sparked a blaze that left at least three Atlanta residents without a place to stay on Friday.

Flames shot through the windows of a building at the Fairburn Gardens Apartments off Fairburn Road. The fire spread through three units in building "E" before crews extinguished the danger.

Monique Hudson said that she was outside the building with her four children when they saw the smoke. The mother said the fire started in a bedroom and spread quickly, leaving little left to salvage.

"It hurts. Just to start all over again…That is my home.  It hurts a lot to lose it," she said.

No one was injured in the fire.

"Just happy all my kids weren't there," said Hudson.

Investigators shoveled through the ashes late Friday trying to pinpoint a cause.

The families in the three damaged units are now working with apartment managers to figure out where they can stay in the complex.
