MYFOXNY.COM -

A young pregnant mother and her 14-month-old daughter were heading to the swings in McCarren Park in Brooklyn when a teenager pointed a gun at her belly and demanded her iPhone.

Rachel Massey, who has lived in Williamsburg for seven years, planned to meet up w her sister along the way.

Massey gave up her iPhone to the armed robber. But then she did something that she now says surprises her. She left her daughter, Olivia, with her sister, who met up with them on the street, and ran after the robber.

The suspect was getting away from Massey when another man in the park continued the chase and got Rachel's phone back.

The armed teen, who Massey describes as about 16 years old with a dark hooded shirt, managed to get away.

Police are still investigating.

The robbery is part of a rash of crimes in and around McCarren Park throughout the summer and fall.

A homeless man was badly beaten in the park earlier this month. Two teenagers robbed two men at gunpoint blocks from the park early Monday morning.

The park's recently reopened pool was plagued by violence and arrests for part of the summer.
