A New York City judge has barred a skateboarding race through the streets of Manhattan.
State Supreme Court Justice Geoffrey Wright granted the city's request to halt the race and prohibit any similar race.
Ian Nichols, an organizer of past races, said he didn't plan to fight the decision.
The race called for participants to gather at 116th Street and Riverside Drive on Saturday and then skateboard down to Wall Street along Broadway.
The race has been held since 2002. Last year 1,000 racers participated.
"We had about 1200 people (last year) and took up lots of blocks of traffic. The top racers go from 116th St. to Bowling Green in 25 minutes; faster than the subway," Nichols told Good Day New York on Friday.
He says he will not be participating this year for fear of prosecution.
City officials expressed alarm when 1,800 signed up this year.
The city Law Department said racers have failed "to stop for red lights, cutting off and weaving through moving vehicles."
