The New York City Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has identified the remains of another 9/11 victim.
Anna A. Laverty, 52, of Middletown, N.J., was identified after bone fragments found in the original recovery at Ground Zero were retested, according to a spokeswoman for the medical examiner.
Laverty worked as a legal secretary at Fiduciary Trust Company, according to the New York Times. She was married with an adult daughter when she died.
Medical examiner staff members have made progress identifying remains by using newer methodologies that have emerged in the 11 years since the attack.
In early 2006, more than 6,000 bone samples were flagged for retesting because of the availability of better DNA testing techniques.
The total number of World Trade Center victims identified is now 1,634. The remains of more than a thousand victims have either not been found or identified.
