Thousands of people lined the streets of Fifth Avenue in Midtown to celebrate their culture and countries for the 49th annual Hispanic Day Parade Sunday afternoon.

The parade began at noon from Fifth Avenue and 44th Street and concluded at 68th Street and is a showcase for Hispanic solidarity. The parade encourages the traditional values, music, costumes, and folklore of each participating country.

Paradegoers are annually treated to an impressive number of community contingencies, floats, marching bands and musical groups every year.

The Galos Corporation said over 10,000 people took part in the parade and among them were Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Fox 5's Ernie Anastos.
