The season ending injury of Yankee superstar Derek Jeter has fans here worried. They're hoping he heals quickly and that the team pulls together in his absence.

It started out as a scene baseball fans have witnessed thousands of times before. One of the most famous athletes diving for a ball but this time, Yankee captain Derek Jeter didn't get up.

Even though he was in obvious pain from a broken ankle, the tough-as-nails shortstop refused to be carried off the field, and hobbled off with the help of Manager Joe Girardi and trainer Steve Donohue.

One 12-year-old softball player and Derek Jeter fan has a message for him.

"I'm one of your biggest fans and I hope you get a lot better," said Julia Cuttitta.

Yankee fans poured into the stadium for Game 2 of the ALCS. It's the Yankees first postseason game since 1995 without the man dubbed "Captain Clutch" and now they're worrying just how far the Bronx Bombers will go without their leaders whose won five World Series rings.

The ankle injury is debilitating and painful, but it won't end Jeter's career says Dr. David Forsh, Chief of Orthopedic Trauma at Mount Sinai School of Medicine.

"I hope not (end his career), unless I were able to examine him, it's tough to say – but I'm hopeful that he'll be back relatively soon," said Dr. Forsh.

Now fans are hoping the team will go above and beyond to give their captain a get well victory.

Some people question whether the Yankees can go all the way without #2, but they hope the loss of their captain won't mean a loss in the series.
