New regulations aimed at delivery people on bikes

Posted: Updated:
MYFOXNY.COM -

Newly proposed city regulations aimed at bicycle delivery people will reportedly require them to take a safety course.

Other mandates include requiring commercial cyclists to wear reflective vests bearing companies' names, according to the NY Post.

Mayor Bloomberg is expected to sign the package of bills into law.

The Dept. of Transportation will also now have the power to issue civil fines of at least $100 to bikers who do not wear helmets and vests and do not carry identification, adds the Post.

Violations would be set at $250 if the same offense occurs 30 days after the original summons.
