SOUTHFIELD, Mich. -- A report of a stunning partnership. The United Auto Workers standing arm in arm with the Ambassador Bridge Company. UAW boss Bob King and bridge owner Matty Moroun strike a deal, according to FOX 2 Lansing Bureau Chief Tim Skubick.
Skubick says the deal makes the UAW and the bridge teammates in a battle against Governor Rick Snyder.
Here's the plan, according to Skubick. Matty Moroun wants you to vote yes on Proposal 6. The proposal would amend the state constitution to require a public vote on any new international connector.
Skubick reports Moroun told the UAW to tell their members to vote yes on Proposal 6. In exchange, Moroun will give cash to the UAW ad campaign for a yes vote on Proposal 2.
In short, business opposes Proposal 2, but unions are in favor. Proposal 2 will put collective bargaining in the constitution.
Former House Majority Leader Rocky Raczkowski weighed in.
"Quite frankly, I find the whole report to be kind of suspect and incorrect," he said. "Proposition 6, when you really dissect it, it's about letting the people decide. So Democrats, Republicans, independents and vegetarians should be supporting Proposal 6."
Michelle Martin, who works with UAW President Bob King, said, "The UAW has not taken a position on Proposal 6. We are studying the issue."
Micky Blashfield with the bridge company said, "There is no deal cut. We are not endorsing Proposal 2 or supporting 2. These rumors may be coming from the governor's office."
