3 men found guilty in series of violent crimes

ATLANTA (AP) - A Fulton County jury has found three men guilty in a series of violent crime spree that included the murder of a 39-year-old man in Atlanta.

District Attorney Paul Howard Jr. says the jury returned the guilty verdicts Thursday against 19-year-old Tamario Wise, 18-year-old Robert Veal and 21-year-old Fernandez Whatley. The monthlong crime spree included the murder of Charles Boyer on Nov. 22, and the rape of a Grant Park woman.

The men of the so-called "Jack Boys" gang were charged with a variety of crimes outlined in a 90-count indictment that includes murder, rape, armed robbery, aggravated assault, home invasion and kidnapping.

Whatley was not charged with murder and rape.

The sentencing for the men has not been set.
