MYFOXNY.COM -

Mitik the walrus is just under four months old and already weighs in at 234 pounds. He was rescued in July off the Alaska coast. At the time he was badly dehydrated and suffered from bladder problems.

The Alaska SeaLife Center helped to nurse him back to health. Now, the staff at the New York Aquarium will take over.

The New York Aquarium is one of the only aquariums in the country that exhibit walruses.

Mitik will be in quarantine for at least 30 days. He will eventually join the two other walruses in the walrus exhibit.
