Exclusive FOX 11 DJ: 'Avicii' Behind The Scenes At the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium

Posted: Updated:

What Avicii and his manager Ash Pournouri have managed in a few years is astonishing. Beginning his career at 18, the self-taught, fresh-faced Swede that is Avicii has had greater success at 22 than most could ever hope for in a lifetime. With chart-toppers as Seek Bromance, My Feelings For You, Fade into Darkness, Silhouettes and LE7ELS, Avicii has since 2008 risen from bedroom music-maker to international superstar.

He has headlined Ultra Music Festival with Madonna, completed a $1 million charity tour, done an exclusive collaboration with Ralph Lauren: Denim & Supply and embarked one of the biggest EDM arena tour to date already in 2012, and Avicii now stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the most in-demand and elite artists on the planet.

From the beginning, Avicii has sculpted fresh, innovative electronic music. Not getting caught up in the particularities of sub-genres and trends, he continues to deliver track after track of original and blissful music. Already In April 2008, Avicii won Pete Tong's fiercely competitive ‘Fast Trax', and his first notable hit Manman was signed to Pete's label, ‘Bedroom Bedlam' – a big achievement for a teenager. Since then, the chart toppers have kept coming.

2012 has seen the Swede skyrocket. Kicking the year off with their unique ‘House for Hunger' tour, Avicii and Ash personally donate a staggering $1million to the organization ‘Feeding America', by doing a not-for-profit 27 stops tour in the U.S.

Next to follow was the worldwide release of his next single Silhouettes, the announcement of his forthcoming collaboration with fashion guru Ralph Lauren and a headline performance with pop goddess Madonna on Miami's Ultra Music Festival.

Masterminded by Ash and after almost a year in the making, Avicii unleashed a 35-foot flying head with full LED mapping on the Coachella crowd. Since then it's been transported across North America on one of the biggest arena tours ever undertaken by an electronic artist – Avicii's LE7ELS Arena Tour.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE:

 -         Multiplatinum selling EDM anthem LE7ELS

-          Raising $1 Million for charity with manager Ash in January 2012 with their own House For Hunger project

-          Reaching 150 million YouTube views

-          The LE7ELS pod cast

-          Grammy nomination in 2011 for Sunshine (ft. David Guetta)

-          Headlining Ultra Music Festival with Madonna in Miami 2012

-          Headlining Coachella, Ultra Music Festival, Lollapalooza, Electric Daisy Carnival, Tomorrowland, Exit Festival, Creamfields, Stereosonic, Mysteryland, Austin City Limits

-          Worldwide partnership with Ralph Lauren Denim & Supply, becoming the first artist ever to become the face of any Ralph Lauren brand

In October, 2012, The 23-year-old Swedish DJ/Producer Avicii rocketed to #3 on the legendary DJ Magazine's annual list of Top 100 DJs, moving from 39 to 6 to 3 since his first appearance on the list in 2010.

The accellerated pace of his climb up the chart, which is voted on by fans, makes him the youngest DJ who has been on the list for the shortest amount of time, and comes in a year with a nonstop performance schedule and unprecedent success with hit after hit, such as 'Levels,' 'Silhouettes' and 'Superlove.'

With his monthly LE7ELS podcast and radio show at SiriusXM, Avicii is looking at establishing his name among the stars, bringing his contagious sounds to the masses and making them believe what many already know - Avicii truly is the Sound of Now.

NYPD probing raising of white flags at Brooklyn Bridge

The NYPD is investigating a major security breach at the Brooklyn Bridge, one of the most highly secured landmarks in New York City. Two white flags — international symbols of surrender — fluttered from poles on the stone supports that hold cables above the bridge connecting Brooklyn and Manhattan. The flags had a faint appearance of the stars and stripes. The American flags that are normally up at the bridge appeared to have been removed.
