Police are investigating the shooting of a woman in the parking lot of a Stop & Shop supermarket in Norwalk, Conn.

The woman, about 50 years old, was walking back to her car when a man tried to rob her, police said. The gunman reportedly shot the woman during a struggle.

The shooting apparently happened inside her car, according to one report.

The shooter ran away across Connecticut Avenue and into a shopping center, police said.

Medics took her to Norwalk Hospital for surgery. She was listed in stable condition Wednesday night.

Crime scene investigators and detectives reponded to the scene to gather evidence.

Cops describe the suspect as black, fair skinned, between 20 and 30, clean shaven, about 6 feet, and wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt.

If you have information, you can call Norwalk detectives at 203-854-3011.
