Philadelphia Police on Wednesday honored fallen Officer Joseph J. DiDomenico with a Police Hero Plaque, the 108th tribute to a fallen Philadelphia Police Department officer.

Members of the police department were on-hand for the ceremony.

Police say DiDomenico was on duty operating Radio Patrol Car 171 en route to the hospital with the victim of a stabbing on the night of October 30, 1953 when his car was hit by an oncoming fire engine.

DiDomenico was just 38-years-old and was an 11-year veteran of the department.

The plaque for DiDomenico is the second dedication this year.
