Wearing slain Police Officer Bradley Fox's handcuffs, 30-year-old Michael Henry said nothing as he was lead into court to face charges that he improperly purchased nine guns, including the 9mm handgun used by cop killer Andrew Thomas in Officer Fox's murder.
"Michael Henry is the person who is responsible for putting the murder weapon in the hands of the killer of Officer Brad Fox," District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman said.
The DA says Henry bought the gun used to kill the Plymouth Township K-9 officer at a gun shop in Jeffersonville after Thomas fronted him the money for the 9mm Beretta and $500 bucks for making the so called straw purchase back in May. Thomas was a convicted felon, unable to purchase a gun legally.
Henry admitted doing it for him.
"Mr. Henry would go to one of these shops, purchase whatever firearm Mr. Thomas was requesting and would hand it over to him in the parking lot," Ferman explained.
Ferman says in all, Henry bought nine guns for Thomas, who shot officer Fox to death after a car stop on September 13th. An employee at the In Site Firearms shop told Fox 29 they were cooperating fully with police and wouldn't comment further.
Henry also told detectives that Thomas warned him that if he was stopped by police with the gun, he would run.
"The killer did say to Mr. Henry that he would not go back to jail and that he would shoot a police officer," Ferman added.
Ferman also said she is clearing federal paperwork to reunite Fox's K-9, Nick, with the officer's family.
"I think there is nothing that any of us would like to see more than Nick living back with his family," she said.
Police are still trying to track down the other eight weapons that Henry bought for Thomas.
They actually used Thomas' GPS to find several hiding places that were dug up and searched.
No weapons were found. If you have any further information called the Montgomery County Detectives.
Ferman also pressed Pennsylvania State Senators to vote out of committee a bill that would re-instate a five-year mandatory minimum sentence for anyone convicted of making more than two straw purchases.
That bill passed in the House back in March 2011. Ferman says the bill has been sitting in the Senate Judiciary Committee ever since.
