A drifter pleaded not guilty on Tuesday in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a bird watcher and groping of two others in Central Park.

David Mitchell, 42, was arraigned on a grand jury indictment that charged him with rape, robbery, assault, weapon possession, forcible touching, and other charges.

Prosecutors said that Mitchell attacked the 73-year-old bird watcher near Strawberry Fields on September 12, about a week after she had photographed him masturbating in public.
