Now the New York Yankees know what thousands of commuters grumble about... Amtrak service problems.

The Yankees were caught by a train cancellation between Baltimore and New York. The Yankees were trying to get home after losing a rain-delayed game against the Orioles on Monday night.

The team was forced to switch to buses during the  late-night trip.

The Yankees arrived at the train station at about 1 a.m. Tuesday but were delayed about an hour. The train experienced further electrical disruptions about a half-hour into the trip.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi said during a conference call Tuesday that after the train arrived in Aberdeen, Md., and the team switched to buses. The ballclub arrived in New York at about 6 a.m.

Amtrak says it has restored power and service between Washington and Wilmington, Del., following an outage that briefly closed a section of the main rail line between New York and the nation's capital.

Two of three tracks were open, with repairs continuing on a third, the AP reported.

The service disruption was caused by downed wires south of Aberdeen, Md.

The New York Yankees announced that workouts and media availabilities at Yankee Stadium were canceled on Tuesday afternoon.

Joe Girardi and Game 3 starter Hiroki Kuroda held a conference call for members of the media instead.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
